The Hanai Foundation found me because I work with Sacred Geometry and expanded states of Consciousness. I employed my knowledge of both to design a structure that is based on the flower of life. The resulting building is a creation of unique spaces that engage with individuals and encourage them to explore their inner worlds while feeling comfortable and relaxed to share and convene deeply with community.

View from the back.

Air room. The concept for this room is to be suspended from gravity. If you are suspended from the binds of the everyday, and allowed to float, what different kinds of decisions could you make? Also notice there are only upper windows. This theory is so that your awareness is not on the present (visible horizon line), but on the future- in the sky.

Earth Room. The concept of this room is to become a womb for reflection. The phrase “as above so below” translates literally here, as there is a round skylight and sunken conversation pit directly under it. Notice there are only windows at the ground level to encourage “grounding”. You cannot see the horizon line, and are therefore less distracted by the present outdoor world, or the future events happening in the sky.

Gallery ceiling. The floor plan is interlocking hexagons, representing the flower of life. Each limb of the trees represent an individual community member. Together, each member is an important limb of the 23 “trees” that support the roof and literal protection of the building and community.
